How to apply for an open position

Lund University uses the Varbi recruitment system for all recruitments. Applying is straightforward and only takes a few steps:

  1. In the vacancy announcement, and click “Login and apply”
  2. Log in to Varbi or create a new account
  3. Complete the application form and upload the required documents
  4. Click 'Submit application'.

Applications must be submitted through the recruitment system. We cannot accept applications by email or other channels.

Good to know when applying

  • Deadline: Applications close at 23:59 (CET) on the final day listed in the announcement.
  • File formats: You can upload files in .pdf, .txt, .rtf, .doc or .docx format, up to 10 MB.
  • Save as you go: You can start your application, save your progress, and return later to complete and submit it.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • All applications are reviewed based on the criteria in the vacancy announcement.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an interview and asked to provide references.
  • All applicants will be informed once the position has been filled.

Appeal an employment decision

If you have applied for a position at Lund University and another applicant has been selected, you have the right to appeal the decision. 

Please note that decisions on doctoral positions cannot be appealed.

Your appeal must include:

  • The decision you are appealing, including the reference number
  • How you would like the decision to be changed

What's next?

  • New international staff will get support and guidance from the University on how to get settles in Sweden and start your new position.
