How to apply: step-by-step guide
Apply for Bachelor’s or Master’s studies by exploring programmes, checking requirements and submitting documents. We’re here to guide you through the application process.
You apply through the national admissions website, Universityadmissions.se. Make sure to give yourself enough time to prepare your application and submit it before the deadline. Once the deadline has passed, you cannot make any changes.
If you are unsure when to apply, check which application round is right for you:

To get started, you’ll need to create a user account on the national admissions website Universityadmissions.se:

Once your account is set up, follow the instructions at Universityadmissions.se to complete and submit your online application.
If you apply to more than one programme, it is very important that you rank them in order of preference.
- Master’s applicants can choose up to 4 programmes (1 main choice and 3 alternatives).
- Bachelor’s applicants can choose up to 8 programmes (1 main choice and 7 alternatives).
You will only receive an offer for one programme, so make sure to place your top choice first.
If you meet the requirements and are selected, you’ll be offered admission to the highest-ranked programme with available places. If you are admitted to your first choice, your lower-ranked options will automatically be removed.
Note: You can change your ranking at any time before the application deadline – but not after.

Important for scholarship applicants
If you are applying for a Lund University scholarship, be sure to rank a Lund University programme as your first choice.
You need to submit your required documents and make sure they are received before the deadline. In most cases, you should upload your documents to your account at Universityadmissions.se. Some exceptions may apply. For a general overview of required documents, see:
[Required documents for your application]
Checking if your documents have been received
To check whether your documents have been received by University Admissions in Sweden, log in to your account on Universityadmissions.se and view your application status.
Students outside of EU/EEA have to pay an application fee to University Admissions in Sweden in order for your application to be processed. The fee must be paid by the stated deadline:
[Key dates and deadlines – Universityadmissions.se]
Your application will not be processed until the fee has been received, so we recommend paying as early as possible.
You can submit your documents and pay the fee in any order, as long as both are received by the deadline.
[Read more about the application fee – Universityadmissions.se]
Key takeaways for international applicants:
- Start early: Give yourself time to prepare and make corrections. No changes allowed after the deadline.
- Rank carefully: You can only be admitted to one programme, so put your top choice first. Lund University scholarships require a Lund programme as your first choice.
- Stay on time: Submit all documents and, if required, pay the application fee before the deadline. Your application won’t be processed until both are received.
What's next:
After you apply, your account at Universityadmissions.se will show updates on how your application is being reviewed. Check it regularly to see if anything is missing and to follow your progress until the final results are published.
